It’s no secret that Swedes love to Fika. Loosely translated this means to ‘meet up and have coffee and a cake break’, but it’s so much more than that.
For Swedish people, Fika is an essential way of life – it’s about taking time out with friends or family to catch-up with good coffee and food. This ritual is part of the culture across Scandinavia, and although it’s not called Fika in Norway and Denmark, the rules of the game are just the same.
There’s no set time for Fika – it can happen any time of day and last for as little as ten minutes to several hours, it’s about going with the flow and only finishing when you feel ready – or when you’ve had far too much coffee or cake!
As you’ve probably gathered by now, coffee is an important part of any Fika. In fact, people in Scandinavia drink more coffee than anywhere else in the world! Yes, even more than the espresso sipping Italians. So as a Scandi-inspired lifestyle brand, run by a half-Swedish man and half-Italian woman, it felt only natural to develop our very own coffee range.
We’ve teamed up with a UK roastery to develop two blends, inspired by our love of Fika and our love of nature. Our Adventure Blend is a rich but smooth dark roast with notes of dark chocolate and caramel, and our Nordic Blend is a light and mellow blonde roast with earthy tones and notes of pine. All of our coffee is responsibly sourced by our UK roastery partner, and as always, all our packaging is fully recyclable.
So, whether you want to cosy up at home with a good cup of joe, meet up with family and friends for Fika (though perhaps virtually at this time!), or sip something hot whilst you’re out on a hike, we’re sure our coffee will hit the spot! Grab a bag today and try it for yourself. We even have some handy travel mugs to go with it.
